NETS forTeachers Strandards

Exit Questions

  1. 1. would simply tell the parent that “technology integration” is nothing more than teachers using technology in the classroom to get come across to the student because this day in time technology is the number one way to children learning.
  2. 2. When teaching a phonics lesson the way I would integrate technology would be to create a game on the computer and allow the students to get on the computer and play the game which would be to practice their letters and sounds.

3. A. Hardware-monitor; software-Excel B. Internet Explorer C. dogpile D. Spread Sheet-Excel; Database-Access

4. I think it is important to teach students the rules and laws concerning plagiarism.

5. Yes, if you don’t know what you are doing and No, if you do know what is required of you and your partner does not.

6. Having the students go on the teacher’s wed page to find out their assignments as well as having them post their assignments on blogger.

7. I would suggest that the instructor make it a requirement that the class responds to the tweets within a certain time period.

8. I really enjoyed creating my own teacher web page and I definitely feel confident enough to use it on my own. And I would also encourage other teachers to create one and use it.

9. I think we could have worked a little more with Microsoft Word especially the newer version. By doing so as future teachers we would already know just how the program works.

10. Again I just loved creating my own teacher web page and will use it in my future classroom.

Adaptive Technology- Case Study

Scene 1
It is very important to keep your student’s learning styles in mind when planning instructions; therefore to meet the needs of students in my class I would use tactile activities for those who are kinesthetic learners. For the visual learners I would incorporate different graphicsso they can see through pictures what the lesson is about. And for the auditory learners I wouldlecture to them as normal and allow others to listen to audio tapes of the lesson through headphones.

Scene 2
I think it would be extremely helpful to have a reading specialist to collaborate with because two heads are better than one and the fact that this person specializes in reading they have more experience in dealing with students with reading problems. They can also provide me with some ideas on how to meet the needs of my students that may have reading problems. By meeting their needs the students will have a better understanding of what they have read and can be productive readers.

Scene 3
Marilyn uses graphic organizers to map out the organization of the book by labeling the characters, setting, problem, solution, and the virtue exhibited by the characters. She also maps out the three fifteen minute activities that the students are going to be working on. By using the graphic organizers Oscar was able to view the large pictures instead of having to deal with the hassle of trying to read and write about what was expected of him; therefore making the activity fun for him.

Scene 4
My experience with using the web to locate information has been relatively helpful, especially when there have been times when I had no clue of the subject matter that I needed to research. There has been one time when I have encountered a problem when using a Wed Quest, such as, one time in a workshop just as it may be in a classroom there were not enough computers in the room for me to have my own personal one and I could not do research on my own.

Scene 5
Having students work in small groups rather than whole groups is beneficial because the students will pay closer attention and this will cause them to retain more information. Another benefit would be the fact that they would have that little bit of teacher-guidance, where the teacher can actually go from group to group helping the groups meet their needs. Also, smaller groups can motivate students to learn from their peers and the students are more likely to gain the openness of reading aloud more.
Personally, I think Oscar would not have been as productive as he was had he worked one-on-one with Juanita. Because of the fact he was visually impaired, being able to work in a small group with his peers gave him the peer motivation he needed to read the text more independently.

Scene 6
Marilyn’s use of technology addresses her students’ needs by first allowing them to visit a Web Quest using Eric Carle’s website, so they could collect biographical data about the author/artist. Then she shared with them, the video, Eric Carle : Picture Writer to show them his artistic approach to painting the pages illustrated in his books. This would be beneficial for Oscar. Finally, the students were able to create their own iMovies. This made the students proud of their work.

Technology Used at USM Game in Ocean Springs

Today, I had the pleasure of attending a USM football game in Ocean Springs and noticed that even there technology was being used. Before the game started someone got on a microphone welcoming and thanking everyone who came out to support the team. I also noticed the camera men filming during warm up time and durning the game, and the coaches on the side lines wearing head gear with a microphone attached. A few other noticeable items were people using their cell phones and the score board.

Multiple Intelligence for Adult Literacy & Education Results

I really like this one! It was easy to read the results and at the end of each description it gave suggestions for improvement. My top three intelligences for this one were "Social" being the highest stating that: I like to develop ideas and learn from others, have good social skills but I needed to find ways to build reading and writing exercises into my group activities. Then "Nature"saying that I'm sensitive to nature and environment and love being outdoors. A few suggestions were to work in the garden, study the habits of fish or birds, or go hiking. Finally "Self" stating that I have a good sense of self, and like to spend time alone thinking things over and that I often prefer to learn by trial and error. To enhance my learning I was told to go on "guided imagery"tours, work on computers and practice breathing for relaxation.

Birmingham Grid Multiple Intelligence Test Results

I enjoyed taking the test; but to be honest the findings weren't surpriseing due to the fact that I've taken similar test before. My top three are "Intrapersonal" with a score of (20), "Naturalistic"(18), and "Kinaesthetic"(18).
